iTunes Random Play... not so random

I have 2.04 and I have about 900 mp3s. I have it all on random and yet... almost every 3rd or 4th song is from the same group, and I really do end up hearing many of the same songs too often. Sometimes I'll hear a song I never even knew I had... but most of the time I hear repeats.

Is there anyway to edit this? Make it 'more' random? Does anyone esle have this?

If anything, I've noticed that WinAMPs random feature is worse than iTunes.

You know, I was thinking the same thing about random playback on my iPod. Maybe it's just coincidence but it seems to play successive songs fairly often.

i've foudn that if you start the random play on a different song than normal, then you get a different order. try playing a song in the middle of your library, and then set it to randomly play.

it's still not perfect, but it works.

    I've noticed the same.

I have about 1600 songs and find it so strange that on the random setting I get songs from the same album or even right next to eachother in the list playing sequentially from time to time.

Damn, I'm glad I am not the only one noticing this! Pisses me off when it goes through the same songs..I have over 1200 songs but you would think that I have only 100!

Don't forget, it's shuffle not random. Therefore, there's another, set order, which it will play your songs in when shuffle is turned on.
