safari 3.0 and making safari available for windows and the re-do of the apple site itself, is all about the iPhone.

everything is being re-done to fit iPhone display and navigation.

Bingo. Apple's putting most of the company on the line, betting on the iPhone. I think it'll be at least successful to the degree that they'll break even on the first release/generation. We'll have to see what direction they go in with future models/upgrades.

I agree. I'm a little worried with the direction Apple is taking, and the removal of "Computer" from their corporate name solidifies it. They're boasting the Mac less and things like the iPod and iPhone more.

I'll admit, I have a little vendetta against the iPhone. I understand it's a great device, but even for an Apple product it's getting a little overrated. I've heard of people considering selling their MacBook Pro for an iPhone, because it's so much more compact, which steams me because I wish I could afford either. Add to that the fact that I work at an Apple Specialist that is getting the shaft, in that we can't sell the most trumped-up Apple product this side of 2000, and that I couldn't even get one from Apple directly if I wanted, because I'm outside Cingular/AT&T's coverage area (yet they don't hesitate to advertise here, and even farther away).

So yeah, the iPhone is cool. As far as I'm concerned, the iPhone can bite it.

I was also a little worried about the removal of "Computer" from their name at first, until their new site re-design added a "Mac" tab. For a while there was an iPod+iTunes tab and an iPhone tab, but never a Mac tab - apple.com/mac didn't even take the user to the Mac website! I'm glad they added this to their site and I think that this focus on iPhone is just temporary.

Definitely. it's just Apple's typical hype of a new product... er, well, I guess it's probably above normal, but still, it's Apple's tendency to hype new releases... get the excitement pumping for it. As long as Jobs is still the iCEO, Apple will continue to advance its computers and OS beyond all others.

While I agree, we must also agree that the Reality Distortion Field will also be emitted at full force for as long as Jobs keeps his job.
