Simple Text for OS X?

I always remembered playing with Simple Text on OS 9 at school and it was so fun using the speech recognition. I know there is a speech recognition built into OS X, but is there something like Simple Text where you can type in what you want it to speak and what voice? Thanks.

Yes, textedit has this abilty. Just launch it, type something, select it and go to edit-speech.

You can also try Tex-Edit Plus. It has very nice support for text to speech as well as many other very nice features.

Thanks, I had a hunch that it would have speech but I never got a chance to check. Thanks again.
