any ideas?
found this comment over on the yahoo apple stock message boards. any ideas on what they are referring to? :
I'm at WWDC and we've had agree to terms of silence on the details here...but all I can tell you is...WOW. This is all I can share with you since this is already public domain. This evening is making history
Hang in there guys, Apple's magnum opus will be well worth the wait!!!!!!

Well, as long as people who actually attended the event can say this then I guess there's nothing to worry about. Is there another event coming when all this stuff will be revealed? Also, are you saying they let you guys in on stuff that is really cool but still secret or are you saying they have said there's more to come but only dropped hints and you're trying to guess what it is?

Um isn't Leopard their Magnum Opus? It's the pinnacle of OS X's development.
i was guessing that there are still secret things that have not been released to the public yet. hoping there is an announcement friday about new imacs or mini's or something. the stock sure needs a little boost about now
i hoped someone else might have some insights or comments. doesnt look like appleinsider gets much attention these days. only 4 people or so have even viewed this thread!
You'll get more thread-views if you title them with something more descriptive.
Just sayin'.
Something descriptive anyhoo

But you said:
"I'm at WWDC and we've had agree to terms of silence on the details here...but all I can tell you is...WOW.
Apple's magnum opus will be well worth the wait!"
What's the point in agreeing to not say anything if you don't actually know anything and you're just guessing? Also, if you don't know anything, then how can you say it will be worth the wait? I thought WWDC would be worth the wait and it wasn't. I thought waiting for a Mac Mini update 2 months ago would be worth the wait, guess what.
This certainly is an interesting one! Can we get the thread renamed to something more appropriate like...... 'Bloody hell we might have our faces melted off by Leopards Secret Gorgeousness after all'.
I would have preferred:
'OMG I'm at WWDC and I've got secrets to share with you'
and the first post would have been:
'I've just seen a Cube running a ZFS filesystem with the *real* Leopard desktop and Windows and Linux are running at the same time and it is one speedy system, they've sure optimized this since Tiger. It's as snappy as Windows now. I'm guessing it's because of the 8600M GT GPU, which they bundle with it and all for under £600 too.'

Look again Marvin (it's misleading because the OP didn't use quotes).
The first statement is quoting a poster on another site, the second is the OP's own thoughts.
I was, indeed, posting the comments of someone else who posted on a yahoo message board. he was claiming to have seen or heard something that was 'wow'-ing to him.
he suggested that the 'to be announced' evening sessions were exposing some incredible information that would change the landscape soon. i was simply wondering if there were others out there that might have heard similar rumors or know first hand.
this being a rumor site, i guessed people might be interested.
thank you. guess i should have named it something like 'wwdc renegade poster exclaims...'
That's much better.

Sorry, I thought the OP was saying he went to the WWDC. I missed the bit about the quote completely.
Ok, so there's some guy who was at the WWDC can't say much but he's very impressed with the WWDC and he mentions Magnum Opus a few times.
Not much to derive from it features-wise and people have said things like this in the past but it's all we've got so yeah thanks for posting it. It sure beats having another iphone thread.

lol. yeah. guess i was getting fed up with the boards here. sure have changed a lot over the past two years. AI used to be incredibly busy with all sorts of great speculation. seems pretty slow as of late.
so yeah, i was hoping that there is SOMEONE out there with a secret burning a hole in their will power who can throw us even a little bone.
WE ARE GOING CRAZY!!!!
or at least I am. there has to be some info out there...please?!!!
Honestly, by now I would have expected a little more info floating around the internets, NDA or no.
So true. The radiosilence from WWDC07 is either a very special version of the omertÃ* among the attending 5K+ developers that even the mafia itself wouldn't be able to enforce, or (even more scary) there simply is nothing more to say.
Regardless of why, the silence is absolutely deafening...
"Leopard is a lot cooler than what they showed in the Keynote. If you use a Mac in a business environment, Leopard is going to be very cool for you. Apple has really listened to the feedback from thier business and education customers about working with Macs in network environments and they've made some really terrific changes as a result. I was in a session today where they announced a couple of daemons were going away and the crowd of ITpeople erupted into applause.
Apple is listening to our complaints about responsiveness and performance. They hate the beachball too. They know AFP can be a pain in the rear. Leopard seems to address a lot of this.
For those panicing about the minimum requirements, it's premature. The Developer Preview runs on any G4, G5 and Intel Macs. That includes G4 minis and eMacs.
Leopard seems to be a lot more substance than sizzle, and I think that's a very good thing."
and that was from last year. But then when I saw Jobs opening a document on stage it still took ages. You saw even he was getting a touch impatient and he'll be using a Mac Pro or something. That's likely the app itself and not Leopard but I notice it in most Cocoa apps. Load times are so slow.
However, I found this video on youtube which looks like it's quite snappy and it looks like it's on a MB:

This one looks a bit slower but I think it was on a G4:

None of those have the new dock either. I really want to see it on an actual desktop and see how/if it slides in and out.

It will take some time to get used to it, but I think this is it. In the meantime, say with me "the iPhone sucks... literally".
I really just want to hear more things like:

That second link shows "split and drop down at the point of click" menus, of the sort already on the redesigned Apple website, being used as an interface element in iChat.
Not sure how I feel about this: it basically replaces (or, I suppose, "augments") drop-down horizontal menu layout, which maintains persistent positioning of possible selections, with a vertical layout that changes where the possible selections are, depending on what you have already selected. Kind of funky.
