Hey,
the Mac OS X dozzend have a journaling file system does it...
but for the XServe thingy that´d be a useful feature wouldn´t it...
so what about it?

Little Bird: Coming in the next year.
Yes.. it would be handy on the XServe, especially since it doesn't seem to have redundant power supplies.

lack of redundant power supplies bothers me. I don't think I have anything on my rack that doesn't have them...

I don't think there are many 1U-servers with redundand power supply at all.

I'm sure a JFS will be available eventually. I've seen quotes from Apple Engineers that basically say the they DO have some drawbacks(of which I do not know) but OSX has the infrastructure to add a JFS without to much overhauling.

I believe one drawback is that each write to a JFS is slower. Not noticeably to a human, but in computer time it can add up.
