Anyone have experience w/World Construction Set (or Lightwave)??
Here's the deal. Sadly I have to run this in OS 9 as there is no OS X version yet. I have the demo version as I havent been able to find the full version anywhere online, and it costs like $700. This program can crank out some amazing stuff, and thats why I would like to use it. Trouble is, this sh*t looks REAL hard to use and I dont have a manual to go by. So Im wondering if anybody uses this program and can guide me along/tell me where to start.
Here's some stuff that was made using this program (WCS 5):

Im wondering if there any OS X-native apps that would also suit the purpose of my use (designing a golf course). I can think of Lightwave, but thats more of just 3D animation right? I can think of Vector Works/Render Works....thats more architectural.

You may be hitting into some more trouble though if you start adding plug-ins to an already complicated application (ie Lightwave).
Another app you should look at is Maya. Maya has Paint Effects built in. You can just paint trees and grass. Although you will have to painstakingly draw each detail. Not really suitable for designing golf courses.
I'm not sure if those plug-ins above work with Mac OS X. But in my opinion, you may be better off with World Construction Kit. The output is actually pretty decent, and it seems to mostly suit your needs. Every app you use is going to have a learning curve.
