networking is not working

i'm trying to network my pc and my mac using DAVE and an ethernet hub. problem is my mac can't log on to the network. i talked to apple and they said it was the TCP/IP on my mac. i've thrown out the prefs and reconfigured endlessly, but only the pc is showing up on the network. my computers can't "see" each other. i'm at the end of my rope, so any advice would be great!

    Go to version tracker and type in:



    Samba



    This should result in a few things that may help. Download and RTM. (read the manual)



    Allows OS X to show up on PC networks.



    Oh, and check your cables.
