Ah, the geek force is strong with this thread-

Strangely, I have nothing else to say...

Bullsheit, Apple has stated over and over and over that they're not interested in the PDA space. It would be a financial misstep on par with the Cube esp. given how sales of PDAs are tanking worlwide right now. Unadorned PDAs are falling seriously out of fashion.

Maybe something that combined messaging and a phone would be cool but Apple would definitely have to OEM that baby and there would be no way that it could live up to the hype they're piling up.

Just thought I'd throw some more gas on the rumor fire...

I just took a look at the source for the iMac page on Apple's web site and found this line in the code

    <META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="Apple Computer, Products, Power Macintosh, PowerMac, G4">

    Hmm...G4 iMac?

If MacMinute's <a href="http://www.macminute.com"; target="_blank">report</a> about the new iMac being on the cover of Time, it sounds like there will not be an extra product, or at least not one that's as important as the new iMac. That sounds like a statement of the obvious now that I write that.

Oops should have quoted to get us closer to 40.

Anyway, I was going to add that Apple seems to be looking more at the consumer electronics market than the computer geek market so I think that some sort of convergence box (which has obviously been widely speculated about for years) is the most likely candidate.

Go and look up Tech TVs teaser for teh Expo broadcast, they specifically mention a "home entertainment device so secret that we can't tell you anymore about it".

Show me where a PDA fits as a home entertainment device for someone who actually has a life.

Just thinking...according to that MacMinute thing, the iMac WILL have a G4.

That means the Tower will HAVE to be a G5 (or 2 or 4...)

    Sounds pretty good to me!

...and it is kinda ugly, eh?

Also read that the 10.1 upgrade offer had been extended to the end of the month...so I'm guessing no 10.2 here.

[quote] January 6 - 22:30 ET: Apple's new iMac, set to be announced tomorrow at Macworld Expo, is featured on the cover of the January 14 issue of Time magazine, which MacMinute has obtained. The new iMac features a G4 processor housed in a hemisphere base with a chrome arm that extends and holds the 15-inch flat panel display. The high-end model, which will sell for US$1,800, features a SuperDrive. Also revealed in the article are details of Apple's iPhoto software, which will allow users to easily create photo albums from their digital images. Users will also be able to create a 10-page photo album of their images, which Apple will print and collate into a hardcover album for about US$30. More details to follow...

    <hr></blockquote>

That's the word from Mac Minute.

The superdrive thing is amazing for that price but I'm not sure this design will grow in me like the towers and the original iMac did.

Hmmm, doesn't exactly impress (the iMac image). I hope it's not real. There've been much better iMac drawings by people around hear over the last year for an LCD iMac, I'm sure they could've made them functional ... don't really like the look of that to much...

MacMinute doesn't have it, who does?????

P.S. I guess this is the "Home Entertainment Device" that Tech TV was talking about what with the SuperDrive and all.

I seriously hope that it can handle HDTV too.
