Bootcamp not recognizing windows installer...
and I don't understand why
I used two different old Windows XP cd's (service pack one)
No go.
I "obtained" a newer version via torrent and
no go
I slipstreamed service pack two into one of the two old windows xp and created a bootable...
no go
could the problem be with bootcamp?
what do you guys reccomend?

Are you using an internal drive to boot the disc? Windows by default can't boot from USB or firewire external DVD drives.
If you're sure the torrent version is SP2, that should have booted ok but which XP is it? I think it has to be home or pro. There are other versions out there like media center edition and embedded.
Also, how are you booting the disc? You should hold the alt-key down and wait for the XP disc to appear then boot from it. Be careful about which drive to install onto - hopefully you haven't done a 50/50 split because it's not clear which partition is which.
