Look in sherlock for preferences and open the folder and throw away everything that says adobe photoshop or the folder that says adobe photoshop preferences

The registered name/serial number for Adobe apps is embedded into the application itself. You can't reenter it by simply dumping the preferences file. The easiest way to do that is to re-install. However, there are a few tools of the "hacker" variety out there that will reset the app and allow you to reenter your name/serial number.
Methinks mr. Cat is asking for help navigating around security for Photoshop. As of June 1 2002, ALL serial numbers found on the internet no longer work. The only way to re-enter a serial number is to instal from the CD and provide it with a legal serial number.
Honestly, if you're using a REAL photoshop CD, call Adobe. If your copy is of the Internet variety, don't post here.
Once I had to reinstall my software, I had my CDs with me, but all the documentation (including the serial number) were at my parents house. I don't know if this is your problem or not, but if you try to reinstall photoshop by writing down the SN that is on the startup image, it won't work. The last three digits of the SN aren't there. Sorry.

Here is a better way to describe what I need. If I re-install Photoshop 7 with my SN can I save my plugins folder with out them being damaged, or wanting to be re-affirmed?/(re-serialized)

Anyway, I wouldn't have made the assumption if you had been specific about your problem in the first place. BTW I still don't know if you legally own Photoshop so I'm still assuming.
It's simple research. I went Carracho surfing, asked everyone if their copy of Photoshop had been rendered useless and if so what the serial was... I got a list of around 60 different serials that don't work. So by reasonable guess I say that pretty much all the serials surfing around the net are useless now.
I myself own Photoshop and all my graphics apps, I'm required to at work. So I know mine works perfectly in fact, I'm working in it right now.

*laughs* These guys are funny. You can keep booting your same version of Photoshop by setting the date of your Mac back to some date before June 1, 2002. Also, you can set the date back to normal after it loads without software failue. Just a hint incase people's assumptions here are correct...

Just curious, but how do you know this. And I'm not trying to imply anything, just asking.

I think you have pass enough time waiting for an answer here! And it has been faster for you to just re-install your soft and your plug-ins!
