OS9 is a fast, compact operating system for the Macintosh platform that offers excellent compatability for older software and extended battery life for portables. It's an excellent choice for G3 and G4 based Macintoshes running at or below 500 MHz.

[edit] Back to the topic at hand... I believe there are two others called Chimera and OmniWeb, but I haven't used them. I have used all five of the ones you mentioned, and I've kept IE and Mozilla. Kinda wish Mozilla had flash and shockwave support, though. Netscape is slow and bloated, Opera has rendering problems, and iCab also has rendering problems and it was buggy on my computer. Mozilla is a little slow to do basic things like opening a new window, etc, but it's good overall. IE is also pretty good, but it lacks many of Mozilla's options.[/edit]

Neither of those browsers will run in OS9.

Luca Rescigno: I am under the impression that opera has shockwave and flash support. download a new version. when you go to macromedia's page, you should just be able to use the netscape installer to install shockwave on it.

have you used a recent version of opera? i haven't noticed any rendering problems on it, but i have on ie...

Wow I just downloaded WanaBe PPC for sh*ts and am really suprised. Talk about internet browsing at its finest! It's even faster than Chimera!

Actually, when I was still modem-bound I used WannaBe pretty frequently. I'm usually looking for text anyway, and WannaBe is FAST.

As a bonus, it obviates busy background designs, poor color choices, MIDI soundtracks, huge images and ponderous table formatting. But it sure isn't pretty...
