Rest of 2007 and Macworld

Hey so the iphone is done for now, and i was wondering if we can get back to basics. This was supposed to be the year of HD and an "awesome" year for the imac, have we forgotten all this? All we got for six months was a couple of pretty colors and .2 GHz or so.

What gives? Have we all just gotten complacent now that they have released the iphone?

Let's do an old fashion insider thread, and get the speculation machine rollin! There are lots of seperate threads out there for different things but lets use this one for our release schedule predictions. We know a lot of things are in the works, lets get them on paper (or pixels)

These are all way off but im just priming the engine

July/E3 - EA games releases

Late August/Paris - Revamped iMac, Leopard release date

September/Event - 720 HD movie rentals, (ipod?)

October/Event -Leopard with iLife '08 (and secret features!)

November/Event - lower iphone price, bumped macbooks/pros

January/MWSF - iphone 2 announced, macbook thin

ok kids, tear me a new one

    September/Event - 720 HD movie rentals, (ipod?) - I'm a sceptic

October/Event -Leopard with iLife '08 (and secret features!) - Leopard for sure

November/Event - lower iphone price, bumped macbooks/pros - I don't know if the iPhone will drop just yet.

No we've all gotten really pissed off by the huge numbers of iphone threads.

Yep, 5 or so games so that almost doubles the number of decent games that will work properly on an Intel Mac and likely none of them will work well on the current GMA so I see a gamers Mini coming before then.

The release date is October. I am hoping for more than an iMac update but I don't think they have to wait for an event to do it.

The secret feature is that there are no secret features.

I don't see another revision for at least another year for the iphone (I couldn't take it). I don't think the thin macbook will be as thin as rumors have said unless they make it a full tablet.

I love the new iphone because it has cool things that it never has before in its daily life a wireless internet connection modulator

Imac will not be as late as late august. Retailers everywhere in UK running low on stock now. Im going for last week in july, first week in august absolute latest.

Think we may see pros updated in august too.

    Agree with rest

Face it, the iphone is so huge and so important to Apple, that I think Apple's normal release schedule will be affected.

Normally Apple will release new macs over the summer. But this summer they'll want all the focus on the iphones.

So I don't think there will be any updates until the fall. I think this is why Apple postponed the release of Leopard. Not because it wasn't ready, but because the iphone was such a big deal. Apple didn't want ANYTHING stealing its thunder.

And it worked. The press coverage of the iphone has been INSANE! And will continue for awhile.

It'll still be the hot topic for the holiday season at the end of the year!

Any new updates to the imac, macbook, etc will be held until October when Leopard is released in my opinion. The iphone hype is so huge that its created this bubble that will overshadow anything that would be announced this summer.

Of course I don't know for sure. But this is my feeling. If you are holding out to update your mac, expect to wait at least until September/October/November depending on the model.

    We shall see. :-)

    Goodluck.
