Is there any program that can let me take a few MPEG's, slap in a transition between them, and then save it as an MPEG, while keeping the sound?

I have tried converting MPEG's to DV streams (for use in iMovie) using both FCP and QT Pro, and in both programs, the Audio is lost during conversion. And when you bring in a MPEG straight to FCP, it loses the audio.

Thanks in advance.

    open each movie in quicktime pro

    export each as .dv

    export each again as .aif

    .dv for use as video

    .aif for use as audio

    import them all into FCP

    drag them out onto the time line

    stick in your transitions

    voila

    ==========

    you really should be able to directly export a movie with sound.

    check the sound settings when exporting

    but use the above method as needed as a work around.,

    i forget what they call it..."de-muxing" the mpeg ? something like that. when you have to seperate the audio from an mpeg1 movie.

    i assume you are talking about mpeg1

    but perhaps i assume too much.

    people who make video CDs run into this all the time so you might want to google-yourself a little mac/vcd search.

    Sorry ... no go. Once it's in the mpeg format, all audio information at the header is deleted. I know this, from my countless attempts at trying to butt together all my mpeg porn clips together. I'm afraid your up shit creek.

    *edit: you may want to try to hunt down a utility like Total Recorder for the P.C. Maybe something like this can do it ...

    This program called Rosetta can take multiple MPEGS and combine them. It even adds a simple wipe transition b.w the clips!

    AWESOME!

    I have experianced the same problems. I have had sucess at playing with the settings in FCP and then exporting as DV so that I can then reimport into a proper format settings for video. (I put things to tape not to web)

    But my easiest solution is to use quicktime pro to present to my second monitor (NTSC) wich splits to my VCR wich then come back into my capture. And viola! into FCP as NTSC.

    Not that "technical or proper of a fix, but it works EVERY time without and drops of audio or wrong sizes plus I don't have to wait for renders. The biggest bonus....

    I don't have to read a manual to make it work.
