MS Remote Desktop Connect Client

Hello all.

There is a link to Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for MacÂ*OSÂ*X on the mac downloads at Microsofts Web page. The link is not working yet and the 'Last Updated' date is 15th of July...

I would say this is a leak and they are announcing it in one week. If I remember correctly this is the remote desktop functionlity which is built in into Windows XP.

    Hopefully Apple will release an Apple Remote Desktop client for Windows in the near future.

    I just looked and did not see what you mentioned. Perhaps you could give me more details where on the page it appears.

    I can't tell you how much I would like to see an RDP client for Mac for Windows terminal services. This would prevent me from having to buy a PC laptop that I don't want.

    Well guess what... It is not there any more and they switched the date also. It is now 'Last Updated' July 10th... Still in the future?!?



    Well in any case I got a Picture of the bottom of that page where it is not 'fixed' yet. Definitelly a leak...

    Really? Easy.



    Step 1) Download & Double Click <a href="http://fink.sourceforge.net/"; target="_blank">Fink</a>



    Step 2) Download & Double Click <a href="http://www.xdarwin.org/"; target="_blank">XDarwin</a>



    Step 3) Download & Double Click <a href="http://julia.et.ic.ac.uk/adrian/software/oroborosx/"; target="_blank">OroborOSX</a>



    Step 4) Open the terminal (in your Utilities folder), and type "fink install rdesktop" (without quotation markes)



    This installs Fink (which makes installing Unix applications easy), X11 (needed to run Unix graphical applications), and rdesktop (a unix TSC).



    To run rdesktop, open up OroborOSX (will be in your Applications folder), and type "rdesktop". This will give you a list of options. For options like "-u" (username), type "rdesktop -u barto" (as an example). Type "man rdesktop" in the localhost window for help.



    See why X11 should be an optional install in Mac OS X?

    Did anyone hear any info about this yet. The original post from snowster showed "last updated July 15th". I was hoping for an announcement and post for download today.

    I could of started using this today.

    Hello again.



    I believe they will release it today. I do have some sources actually to semi-confirm this, but unfortunatelly I cant tell more. It should however be on their web page later today.

    So it was finally ;-) released. And I have to say that it works GREAT!! Well done Microsoft. I am using it at home to connect to a beige box, which is connected to my iMac via ethernet. I dont have to use a screen/keyboard/mouse on the PC anymore. It will save me some desktop space.



    Do you know if FireWire networking is possible with Mac OS X? There seems not to be such an option in the network preferences. Windows XP supports it, and I believe that a 400Mbps connection would be even better than 100Mbps ethernet...
