i like the comments made by some on the story at macnn... talk about some bitter people. i swear, i had an easier time getting over my ex-girlfriend than some people are having over bungie being acquired by microsoft.
at least by the time halo ships, we may have some powerhouse machines able to run it (i only played it a couple of times as a rental from blockbuster, but oh... my... friggin.. god).
now i'd just like to see dungeon seige make it to the mac-sde.
Can't wait to see Halo for the Mac I probably won't buy it though I have it on my Xbox and play it online often with my xbox it is probably the funnest online game I have played. I haven't played it for a month though no point in playing when you never lose. I have 2 lvls to play on the actually game it self but I said screw it the lvls get long are become pointless.
Westlake seems a bit optimistic to me. Halo is an XBox game, XBox uses DirectX/3D and not OpenGL. Macs don't support the former. And ports are generally never as good as self-published titles. We get updates and new features second hand.
Not to mention this title is going to be at least 2 years behind the XBox version's release.
Plus, this game is only being released because Bungie gave its word so long ago. Bungie is dead as a Mac game maker from this point on. Bungie has largely been dead to me for past 3 years...This is the final straw.

By the time Halo comes out for the Mac or PC I will already be playing several Online Version of Halo on Xbox Live. Not like I don't already play it online.
Yea, I wanted to buy it soon after I bought Marathon Infinity years and years ago. BEFORE Bungi was bought out by Microsoft. Yea, about 3-4 macworlds' ago, before the XBox. Sorry, I have a grudge, and probably won't buy it. (But I will play if a friend buy's it)
I'd be pissed too if Microsoft buys a Mac-only game developing company like Bungie, then makes its games only for X-Box. Probably did it deliberately.
Oh, AND **** BOLD!

Actually Bungie wasn't a "Mac-Only" company. I recall having PC versions of myth right along side the mac copies (and then together on one cd). I think you meant "Mac-Friendly"
Well... when Mac Halo is eventually released I'll be buying it, and it will be fun. However, I sure am disappointed that it will close to a 2 year delay between xbox and mac version. Am I to believe it took them 8 months just to find a developer to convert it? Or were they actually doing something with it? The thought that they just let it decay for 8 months to sell xboxes is rather frustrating.

It *was* Mac only before that though. The first game the published for PCs was Marathon II.

As everyone else is saying... this means Halo will come out just in time for me to not care. Actually, I don't mind that Bungie got bought out by Microsoft... I'd just like them to release things within a reasonable amount of time of announcing them. They showed Oni for years, and by the time they released it, they had scaled it way back, and it was already a generation behind in terms of the quality of engines. Same with Halo... I remember seeing it at the keynote at MWNY... three years later...
Then again, it will probably be the most exciting game released for the mac by next year, so maybe I will end up buying it...
It might help. I remember an interview with Mark Adams in which he said that they've pretty much already done that. Still, it wasn't the complete library, so this might help anyway. If anyone's interested, I'll try to dig up a link to that interview.
So what, all of TWO or THREE titles being made Mac Only make them a Mac Only company? Get real. They made at least twice as many game for both Mac AND PC then games which were for JUST Mac. Don't give the sell-outs too much glory... I know you'd like to think that they were 'so loyal' back in the day but they went after the $$ market of the PC side just as fast as they could.
