OK to trash OS9 Folder?
Howdy, I just took over my niece's old G4 ibook (I know, a hand me down), but its all I need right now.
I was wondering if its safe to trash the OS9 folder. I never use OS9, I cant imagine anyone is still using it at this point. Can I just chuck it in the trash? Im trying to free up some hard drive space.

Make sure you're not running Classic at the moment.
I never run classic, unless its starting up automatically somehow.
Any way to shut it off if its running?
System Preferences -> Classic.
I just checked. Classic is not running. Im going to try and trash the OS9 folder again.
Have you tried removing it via terminal? If you don't know how, I wouldn't suggest it, but it's worth a try if you do.
No, dont know how to, maybe I should just leave it.

Put the System Folder back where it belongs, in the root hard drive, and copy all of this text into Terminal and hit Return.
cd /
rm -r System\\ Folder
Make sure to get all of it, and enter NO other commands into the terminal.
Like he said, if you don't get the backslash in "System\\ Folder", you'll delete "System" instead. Bye, bye, Mac OS X.
Methinks I'll just leave things the way they are. When the new cat comes out I'll just do a full install and erase the old stuff.

Sounds like a good idea, considering Mac OS 9 takes up mere peanuts in regards to HD space. Still, if you enter it like I posted, it will do the trick.

Thanks for the info.
