iCal suddenly is read-only

A week ago, I suddenly became unable to enter new appointments or make changes to my iCal calendar. I get the message "Read only calendar. You cannot change events or To do in a read only calendar."

I don't know why this is happening. I didn't touch the preferences. I'm not sharing my calendar with another computer. Sync is turned off. I tried throwing out the plist for iCal and restarting, but I still get the same message.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Philip

You may not have done anything to the permissions, but I bet something has! Your iCal data lives in your User folder. The iCal program would probably not be affected. Run Disk Utility, Verify Disk, see if there are any potential problems. Then run Repair Disk Permissions.
