Macbook LCD Brightens and Darkens

Is this normal? My screen will slowly and slightly darken every few minutes then brighten back up a minute later. This can happen in the middle of typing, scrolling, moving the mouse around, it doesn't matter. It's not debilitating, but it can get annoying when I'm reading.

Thanks.

Go to system preferences-->displays and uncheck "Adjust screen brightness automatically as ambient light changes". That should solve your problem.

I assume you have the MacBook Pro? Because the MacBook doesn't have a light sensor.

Does anyone have a similar fix to solve the keyboard lighting? It also changes constantly and I have yet to find a way to force it on.

There is not a setting already present in a MBP to force on the Keyboard lights? Outside software must be downloaded? Im sorry to sound ignorant but I am still learning the bells and whistles of my Mac.
