Downloaded it, installed it and when I go to play a video clip (from Sheryl Crow's website, say), RealPlayer launches, then immediately shows an error message/warning: "General error".

Uh, yeah...thanks. Can you BE more specific?

Anyone know what this could be?

I had a similar problem until I rebooted the system. It seems the reboot allows for proper use of the plug-in.

I thought so too. I ended up re-booting as well (twice, for good measure!) and it's still doing it. However, I just tried some other Real media stuff and it seems to work.

So now I'm wondering if it's just Ms. Crow's site and files? Man, how sucky. That's the ONLY reason I was waiting for an OS X RealPlayer (all the clips on her website, audio AND video) are in Real format.

I wish it was a web design law that every site had to support QuickTime, Real AND Windows Media Player.

    Okay, never mind. Just QuickTime.
