iPhoto for UK users - Please give me a clue!!!

Right,

iPhoto has been out for more than 6 months now. I like it. It may be a bit clunky on how it stores it's pictures and all the naming thingies, but there is one thing that really gets my goat.

WHY OH WHY OH WHY has the online print ordering system not been sorted out yet. I have scoured the web constantly for news or snippets, the odd bit of gossip, but can not find anything except the official press release at launch in January, saying that 'apple is confident that it will source a UK supplier very soon'.......Bollox.

I've been frustated about this feature for some time now, especially those bound books. It was one of the reasons I switched for M$ in January with the release of the new iMac, which I'm thorough chuffed to bits with. It was only after placing my order did I see the small print 'only available in USA, and Canada!".........Cheers for that.

What makes it worse, is that I've tried contacting Apple about this, at their online store, various other contacts and feedback forms, and I've heard nothing.....christ, Bill Gates would probably reply to me sooner personally.

What makes it even worse is that, all this malarky of upgrading to 10.2 for a whopping £99, which is about $150 (so quit your bitchin' yanks, you got it easy), plus $49 for .mac plus our 17.5% VAT making it about £40, and all I f'n want is to be able to line Apples pockets even more, by ordering prints and books online.

I would gladly upgrade to 10.2 if I could get a bound book from the UK. I would gladly pay for .mac, if I could get a bound book from the UK. I would even gladly pay for delivery from the US to the UK.

Thanks for your time listening to my rant. And, if anybody out there does have any info about the status of my issue, I would much muchly appreciate it.

Ta

Tim

Agreed. It is not a good way to garner good will with our friends across the pond.

The wait will be worth it, though. I made a bound book for my mother of our trip to Greece, and she has been proudly showing it off to all of her friends; they have all been extremely impressed with it. It really is a wonderful, albeit pricy service.

Yup, then we have sherlock - non of the new features will probably work in the UK (or anywhere outside the US), I see maybe Yellow Pages working - Apple UK/Europe seriously need to put a bit more effort in.

As for .Mac - I dont think we have to pay VAT as they simply take the equivlent of $49.95 from out credit cards - which is about 30 squid. Anyway i'll find out in 70 odd days when i sign up (not giving away my 70 free days )

I have already had a reply from somebody 'across the pond' saying that they would gladly get it done and then ship it to me. Such kindness, and thank-you very much.

I'll have to look into the logistics of the 1-click business and see if I can create a US store account with my english credit card, and use the guys address. He could then forward it to me as a gift to avoid import tax. This sounds good. It obviously involves some trust on both parties.

It is definitely an idea for any UK users out there that have relatives in the states.

I will try to create a US 1-click account tonight and set my mac up to use it. Who knows? It should work theoretically.

Regarding Apple Europe/UK, what do they actually have to do all day? I'm bitterly disappointed that they have not responded to any of my queries, and hardly any of the apple services have their counterparts here over in Europe. It is a bag of shite! to say the least. It's a good job that the hardware and non ASP based software is great.

    Revs,

I have upgraded to the .mac account already. And it says that I have been charged $49.95 which is OK, but it does give an estimated sales tax figure which was $0 , but who knows what the final bill will be? I'll keep people posted. I'm supposed to recieve an email soon from apple telling me the final invoice amount.

Also kids, watch out for the auto renew check box on your billing profile - cheeky bar-stewards!
