One potential big problem with the rumored new iPods.

While we all speculate about the new iPod models coming next month, there is one BIG "fly in the ointment" that could ruin it all: what if Apple decides to adopt the recessed headphone connector used on the iPhone with the new iPod models?

I think that will !@#$ off iPod users to no end. Who wants to go through the inconvenience of buying an adapter to use standard 3.5 mm jack headphones or wait for updated headphones that work with the new recessed headphone connector? I hope for Apple's sake they keep the stand flush-mount 3.5 mm headphone connector, for obvious reasons!

That sounds ridiculous. They won't do that.

The iphone one is for the microphone on the headphones. I don't think the ipod will ever need that.

Apple sells dozens of different kinds of headphones at their Apple Stores. I don't think it's their business objective to make a force-play on headphone sales.
