my thoughts on ichat

I have been using ichat for a few days now. It seems to be quite a stable program. I'll admit that when i first saw the program on apple's website, i was a bit hesitant about the way the program looked. But after using it, the interface grows on you. The great thing about this app is that it is really customizable with the way it looks.

The only problems that i have with the iapp are unfortunatly important features that are left out. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

1) you can not create a profile.

2) there is only one buddy list, i do like how it sorts all your buddies by availability or alphabetically, but i really liked the sub categories of types of buddies that you can make with AIM.

3) The only way to see peoples away msgs is under their name in you buddy list (or to highlight the name with your mouse) i do like being able to see the persons away message right under their name without having to click on anything, but if the message is too long to fit on your screen you can not view the entire message.

3) The buddy icons are all generic untill you talk to the person. It would be great if they appeared when you got info on that person.

4) When getting info on a buddy you can not adjust the size of the window, and it only allows for 2 or 3 lines of text from the buddies profile. A quick fix for that would just be to allow for window resizing.

Those are the things that i would like to see added to ichat. I do like the program on a whole, but with those features added (or borrowed from AIM) the app would be absolutly perfect!

If there is anyone who knows how to do the things i mentioned above just let me know - but i have explored the features of this program quite fully, so i dont think i just missed them.

Give it time. I'm sure they will have quick updates for little stuff like that.

Brian is right. Give it time. Heck, the program isn't even at 1.0 (officially) yet!

Once it *is* official, though, do be sure to use Apple's feedback links you point out ways to improve iChat. Believe me, you aren't the only one bugged by the things you listed above.
