Yet another iTunes update this morning, but no iTunes icon

Downloaded 7.4.1 this morning and it added a ringtone tab to the iPhone utilities in iTunes, but no iTunes icon, and no ringtones yet. Probably Wednesday we'll see it, right? Started getting excited when I seen the update available this morning and then quickly disappointed.

    When steve jobs announced the ipod touch, he said that the ringtones on the new itunes would be working in the next week, so although it says it in itunes its not currently functioning but it will be soon. He said we will see Itunes WiFi store in the next software update soon. That is what i read on engadget.com

    You know you can make your own ringtones for free, right?

    Yes, but isn't that a lot of work? I'm pretty new to Apple products. I can manipulate a PC pretty well but when it comes to Apple I'm in the fog.

    stumbled upon this the other day. the new method doesn't sound much more involved than the old one. hope this helps...

    I followed this post, found on another forum:



    1) Downloaded ringtone WAV file.

    2) Set iTunes importing preferences to 128kbps AAC.

    3) Double-clicked WAV file which imported it into iTunes.

    4) Right-clicked on listing in iTunes and selected "Convert to AAC"

    5) Deleted old WAV file - sent actual file to Trash

    6) Drag - Dropped AAC (.m4a) file into my own Ringtone folder.

    7) Renamed file from .m4a to .m4r

    8) Created ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Ringtones folder

    9) Copied .m4r file

    10) Pasted into Ringtones folder

    11) Double-clicked .m4r file to import into iTunes

    12) Renamed .m4r file .m4a

    13) Synced iPhone

    Does it have to be 30 sec or less? Or can it be an entire song?

    This is where I have trouble. I have the fill "Video Killed The Radio Store.m4a" and I am NOT able to drop into ringtones folder....



    Also, when you guys say "rename" all you're doing is changing it to "Video Killed The Radio Store.m4r" correct?

    Yes, but make sure you do this in the 'Get Info' window.

    I am a bit confused. When you say create a ringtones folder are you saying "ringtones folder" or "ringtones" folder as there is already one there??

    I need to convert the file the other way to work on my phone. Is there an easy way?
