Here is the link that apple has on their OS X page:

    <a href="http://www.apple.com/macosx/jaguar/mail.html"; target="_blank">http://www.apple.com/macosx/jaguar/mail.html</a>;

I think it is much improved in 10.2- All I really know is they have a way better junk mail filter.

Mail.app will turn out to be a very good Mail program some time here. It's all I use I did use Entourage for a while but I wanted some thing that had more of the Mac feel to it. The new ver of Mail.app that comes with Jaguar will be much improved but I'm sure it will still lack some things, you will just have to give them time to add new features.

Mail is much improved with Jaguar. It seems to process HTML better, the junk mail filter is handy, and the interface has several enhancements.

That being said, I'm still using Entourage because it's calendar is so much more functional than Palm desktop, etc.

I was using the absolutely great Mailsmith by BareBones (makers of famous BBEdit). Since the early days of Mac OS X I've been using Mail.app and I can say it just get's out of your way. It should be called iMail. As ll iApps it does one specific thing only but that one very good intuitive and unintrusive. Mail 1.2 (from jaguar) is vastly improved. It's a lot faster, has much improved filtering and the junk filter is just great.

As for a calendar iCal will do just extremely well I guess. Since Apple is asking for and reading user feedback for Mac OS X and iApp I guess users will help Apple make iCal even better. Ditch Entourage! :-)

So far my experience with Mail 1.2 has been dismal. This is entirely due to the fact that the app crashes every time (and I do mean every time) I attempt to view an email with an attachment.

And, of course, it loses all spam filter rules I've put in place for that session, as well.

Has anyone else seen this? I'm connecting to an IMAP account via SSL (something that *is* new and seems to work in Mail 1.2).

I have been using Mail since 10.1 day.

Mail is simple. I hate bloatware

By the way. I did create myself a rule list for mail and it's pretty functional.

It blocks about 80% of junk mails

Anyone want that? I can email you

I too just moved from Entourage to Mail (running Jag now) and the one feature I REALLY REALLY REALLY miss is the 'delete mail from server' function on SPECIFIC MESSAGES.

    Explain:

    I use POP.

I leave mail on server for 30 days.

I check my 'all accounts' (work, personal, etc) from work.

I check my 'all accounts' from home.

I check my 'all accounts' from laptop.

I want my 'important' email in all places.

I want to get rid of junk mail once.

When junk mail comes in I would set it 'delete from server now' and then trash it. When entourage does the next 'check mail' it deletes the crap but the 'good stuff' stays so when I check mail from other accounts I'll still have it.

In Mail.app you have no such feature. I'd even settle for 'delete mail from server when trash is emptied' but Mail.app doesn't even do that yet.

This is one major bummer since I'm now stuck deleting junk mail 3 times... Once at work... Once at home and Once on my laptop.

Hmmm maybe it's time to move to IMAP.
