Does anyone here use Adobe Photoshop Elements? I'd like to buy Photoshop itself but can't afford it, especially for my current, non-professional needs.
Has the power of Photoshop, is maybe more expandable, does really powerful batch stuff, and has an interface with a huge learning curve (though it makes sense). I own a copy and it's maybe too high-end for me. Do you know what the difference is between "Catmull-Rom" and "Two-lobed Lanczos" resampling?. Me neither.
Suite of illustration, web creation, image editing, fonts, clip art, etc. Very nice suite especially since the version 10 upgrade, but no demo to try it!
Photoshop Elements is AWESOME. I've been using Photoshop (full) for YEARS and i happened to try Elements and its actually much better for what I need. I've never gotten into making a million masks, CMYK, etc etc. Mostly retouching, add filters, make logos, etc etc. This was EXACTLY the perfect app. Gives you tons of help, examples, etc etc.
I really have to say that Elements THE graphics app par excellenence (for us common mortals and semi-pro people). If you have to send out 500MB CMYK proofs... well, then yer gonna need Photoshop.
I installed Photoshop Elements 2.0 last night and it is awesome! I love GraphicConverter, and I used it extensively when I had to use Photoshop Elements in Classic. Now that it's OS X Native, I'll only use GraphicConverter for the slideshow feature.
EDIT: One more thing, you can get it for $29.99 (with $70 in rebates) if you order it through Amazon.com.
ewww ick. Adobe turns my stomach with their constant fawning over the Wintel market. I don't know but that "trust" that Adobe commanded in the Mac Community just isn't there anymore IMO. I'm more likely than ever to persue apps from other companies simply because I'm disatisfied with their support of Macs.

You know, Adobe is still very Mac-centric. You want your stomach turned, look at Quark.
