That's my iPod, at the top. Still works great. Does the new one have a mic that can record audio? Recording off FM radio would be nice too, but with the RIAA/iTMS that's obviously never going to happen, even just a radio. I'll probably get an iPhone in a year instead of ever getting a new iPod. The iPhone can record audio I'd assume?
not natively but with the silliest easiest hack i've ever seen, mine now does voice memos, along with blackjack, and lots of little apps. thanks to null river's installer.
And that's just for the current generation of consoles. There are other transitions that look even more radical.

Anyway, that said, the original example, I'm not sure if comparing iPod with iPod Touch makes that much sense, iPod to iPod Classic is the direct lineage.
at this pace, in 6 years ipods will support USB 4.0, have bluetooth, be thinner than a human hair and send images, video and sound directly to our eyeballs+ears+brain. spooky.

True, I decided to add the N64 and PS1 just for fun. However, the space between each generation is ~5 years, so it's still relevant.

PS2 and xBox are very similar to PS3 and xBox 360 in almost all regards except graphics and networking. Not really anything mind blowing here.
