I'n noticed that if i have like 800 mb of ram not being used that when i restart i have about 1.50 gb not being used, but as i open programs the memory goes down. but after i close the programs the memory does not always go back up. Is this some kind of thing that makes programs boot up faster the next time you open them or something?

Yep, it's so they open again faster.

Try it for yourself... Open a program after you boot up, quit it, and open it again. It opened faster the second time, didn't it?

If another program needs the memory used to store a program that has been quit, it'll clear the memory and use everything tht it can... it's a good thing.
