When will we see a new Mac Pro?

It looks as though Leopard will come and go without a new Mac Pro.

So the question is:
"When do you think we will see the new Mac Pros?"

I don't think until San Fran, um afraid.

Unless Apple are going with the 8800GTX and not wait on the 'next gen'. Which is imminent for early '08.

    Lemon Bon BOn.

Next month. Did you see this ? :

    http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/features/admin.html

Choose the second picture in the showcase ... It mentions 2x 2,7 Dual Core Intel Xeon X serve...

That's a new model, right ? so if the xserve will have an update, for sure, the mac pro too ...

Nah.... it's probably an old build before requesting that intel boost the 2.7Ghz Processors to 3Ghz.

Also they don't usually release the Mac Pro and the Xserve at the same regardless. I only recall them doing it twice.

BTW, My prediction, from 5 months ago, still stands. Which is that they will announce new Mac Pro's at WWDC. Using a variation of intel's Skull Trail Board of course.

Oops... I meant to say MWSF not WWDC.

We have 2.66 GHz Xserves here and they're reported as 2.7 GHz just like those pictures. Those are the current Xserves.

I hope around November-December alongside new ACDs.

New MacPro enclosures and new displays designs.

MWSF would be the second bet, but I think Apple is holding that event for the ultra-portable, iPhone 16gig and AppleTV 2.0

    We'll see.

Actually, it is looking like we will see something new in November (fingers-crossed).

Please, Apple, I don't need to highest end Penryn Intel will ever make, just don't want to plunk down $3,000 on two year-old tech.

    Thank you very much.

I don't follow you. What do Mac Book Pros have to do with Mac Pros?

The general thinking is that the Macs Pro and the Macbooks Pro won't be released at the same time.

There is nothing available to update the MBP. The mobile versions of Penryn won't be around until February or so.

The comment just doesn't make sense to me.

I think MWSF is going to be all about hardware so let us recap

    So far this year
    1. AppleTV - released and expanded

    2. iPhone - announced and released.

    3. iLife - released with new version of iMovie

    4. iWork - released with spreadsheet added

    5. iPod - expanded and updated

    6. Mac mini - updated with Core 2 Duo

    7. iMac - plastic replaced with aluminum and glass

    8. Leopard - getting released 10/26/2007

    Between now and MWSF.
    1. MacBook - gets Santa Rosa and/or the plastic is replaced with aluminum and glass

    2. MacBook Pro - gets Penryn processor

    3. Cinema Displays - gets FireWire 800, 24" replaces 23", built-in iSight.

    Items at MWSF2008
    1. AppleTV - gets a refresh

I disagree slightly. First, I think the MacBook Pro will wait until MWSF2008 as the mobile Penryn processors won't be ready until then. Second, the quad-core Penryn CPUs will be out shortly, so I think the Mac Pro will get updated sometime in November... probably in the next few weeks.

What are you talking about? What about the Macbook and Macbook Pro upgrades, or the iPod Touch, or FIinal Cut Studio 2, or iWork, or the Mac Pro 8-core upgrade... you only listed like half the items. There's even more than I just listed.

I would hope Apple would debut something new that we've never seen before. All current computer products don't need big attention. just a silent update like MacBook. I want to see something new in January that will make us all go, "wtf?" It's a new year, and Apple would want to enter it with a shocking new device that has never been developed before.

I'm still leaning towards the MWSF rollout, but there are a couple of things that are confusing me.

    1. Apple Canada has not adjusted Mac Pro pricing to compensate for the higher Canadian dollar. Nobody in their right mind is going to pay a $300. premium for no good reason. (On top of the regular Mac Pro premium!)

Mac Pro sales in Canada will die a quick death unless the pricing is adjusted soon. Why are they holding off?

    2. Display options have vanished as a category on the front page of the Apple Store. That's just bizarre.

Maybe too many people were clicking on the displays expecting to get to the iMac page.
