New backup

as seen off the update:

Backup 1.2.1 provides a quick, easy way to back up important information to your iDisk or to recordable CD or DVD discs. Backup 1.2.1 provides these improvements over Backup 1.0:

? \tDisc spanning lets you back up large files (such as your iPhoto library) that won't fit on a single recordable disc.

? \tScanning performance improvements mean selecting and backing up files take less time.

? \tCD and DVD modes are combined for streamlined use.

? \tAn updated iTunes QuickPick lets you back up your iTunes music files, not just the playlists, to CD or DVD discs.

? \tNew iCal and Stickies QuickPicks let you back up important dates and reminders.

? \tImproved log files help you keep track of your backups.

? \tSupport for different sizes of recordable discs (such as 700 MB) lets you pick a size to fit your backup.

? \tAn updated design with a metal look to make Backup even easier to use.

sounds nice, i just want to see if it works better now. sorry if this thread exists elsewhere, i glanced around but didn't see it. but i'm also rushed today, so that doesn't mean much.

Didn't we get all those changes in 1.2? I think 1.2.1 is just a bug fix, or more likely there was some compatibility issue with OS X 10.2.2.

possibly. i've had a lot of issues with backup 1.2 though, so was disappointed when it wasn't changed at all in 10.2.2

hopefully this will fix some of the issues. (such as never really backing up my damn data)

1.2 was problematic. I had one backup just stop on the third disc, and the next backup made two coasters before proceeding to create a flawless backup set.

Haven't had the need to try 1.21 yet. Hopefully it fixed those issues.

    I cannot begin to say how much I love Backup. Come January 1st I am going to start backing up my MP3 collection on a quarter basis...as it stands I would need 160 CDs to archive my MP3 collection! <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" /> <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

Heh. I'm just waiting for a version that will back up to another disk drive (like, say, an iPod). That would be a more practical situation for most than CDs.

A little off-topic, but as far as "free" .Mac software goes, is it too frickin' much to ask for a version of Virex that automatically checks for database updates?! Jesus it's annoying.
