Why does Appleinsider have so many freaking pop-ups?

I don't know of any other site (other than porn sites) with this many pop-ups.

It's making using the site more of a hassle than it should be.

what browser?? any plugins did you use to avoid pop ups.....when using safari or firefox i rarely have popups. i've had a few from AI that or brutal and have posted about them but recently i have had little trouble. if you want to see how much better safari and firefox is try using a windows machine with IE like at work......holy moly...dozens even with IE and pop ups blocked.

macs rule (just had to say that)

i've never had a pop up on this site.. but here's a funnier question:

why is the banner ad on the top of the site sometimes advertising Zune and microsoft? haha. a little counter productive if you ask me..

I am using Safari under Leopard, with pop-ups supposedly "blocked," yet AI now has pop-ups coming up all the time. It's turning me off to the site.

Funny to read these comments...I've been on this site since it first popped into existence...and I can't remember _ever_ seeing a pop-up..pop-under...soda pop...pop star or anything similar.

I use Firefox, prefs. set to block pop-ups....& I've installed the extension AdBlock Plus.

you may wish to try similar to avoid your feelings of frustration?

There are popunders on this site. If you go to the extent of installing addons and such to block them...isn't that much like admitting they are there? Anyway, of course you can block them if you want to go through the trouble, but why bother? Why not simply have a "premium" member option? Pay $10, get a pass on the popunders...
