Looking for a WYSIWYG web program like Claris Home Page 3.0
I Have been using Claris Home Page 3.0 since 1996.
I have been looking to change over to a new program
like RapidWeaver, Sandvox http://www.karelia.com ,
NVU, http://www.nvu.com , Komposer,
http://www.kompozer.net and Freeway Express
http://www.softpress.com/products/freewayexpressin.php
(any others out there?)
I am not into learning a new hard program (GoLive CS)
as I want to make my page look like 2007 but I want something easy
like CHP...
I need to put in meta tags, paypal codes in the html and maybe
(future) ad codes along with spam proof e-mail (free with program) or form
mail e-mail that that spam-er can not get to...need to save page as .htm or .html as CHP has many of my pages using both of these and I want to keep them as they have been all these years...

peacock web site in 1996 and was # 1 in a search until
a few years ago...several people said that CHP HTML
makes the searchs not read the pages and that is why we are down
on the list...so not its time to get to #1 again...
Any ideas from people who know about all these programs and maybe others out there.

And Dreamweaver (GoLive and Dreamweaver were merged) is not complicated and hard at all. Just expensive.
But also, getting a modern WYSIWYG webpage editor will do absolutely nothing in terms of web design. You'll have to learn CSS as well as get a good graphics program (i.e. Photoshop) and learn how to use that graphics program to produce a good looking website.

Or, if you don't want to spend money, have you tried iWeb? With .Mac domain hosting, you could move the whole site and everything would track just fine....

Why don't you just try things out?
I think you should look into iWeb, as its really easy to make something both good looking AND minimalist like you seemingly prefer. And ypu can integrate HTML code for stuff like paypal with its 'Insert HTML snippet' feature. It integrates well with .Mac, but its easy to publish to a regular ftp server with an ftp application like Cyberduck. Its free and integrate with the other iApps.
Yes, CHP rocked in its day. But the goalposts have moved, and today even the simplest sites need the database driven ideal coupled with WYSIWYG entry. Blogs are now simple to make, but every other type of site (news-focused, product-focused) is still tedious.
I think that this category is waiting for such a tool to appear to become the next generation Dreamweaver/GoLive. Ordinarily, I'd think Apple's integrated approach would make it the clear favourite to do this.
However, their reluctance to decouple .Mac from iWeb may be the thing that keeps them from winning this time around. If Sandvox or RapidWeaver have solutions for building database driven sites I hope they release them soon.
But RapidWeaver also really needs to build in the Blocks plug-in. The app is useless without it.
If a database is a key component, I'd just install Wordpress or Drupal.

I think that some people have a vested interest in keeping professional grade design relegated to coders. Imagine how backward things would be if you have to learn coding just to design a brochure in Quark Xpress or InDesign. Or had to learn complex math just to draw curves in Illustrator.
The web needs to grow up. Designing a professional website in 2007 should require more emphasis on good design skills than technical wizardry.

Well, in defense of the webmonkeys, I would point out that people are often doing very complex things with the web. Once we got to dynamic pages, the game was over for the non-skilled. Sure, you could write a blog using nothing but text files, but that's not what people want anymore. And what people want is complicated. I want dynamically loading pages that are keyword searchable, indexed by month and day, taggable, and have categories! Well, that's pretty complex.
With that said, I'm pretty happy with the way that the CMSes are going to ready-to-use templates.

I agree with midwinter. There is no real point in creating static content that is hard to update. If your website has content that needs frequent updates and requires some level of user interaction, you are better off getting a hosted service that supports Wordpress or Drupal or any of these http://www.opensourcecms.com/.
The headache in setting these up is easily offset by the variety of theme packs they offer and the ease of creating and updating content.

Otherwise if you really are too lazy/busy to learn basic html/css then any of those you mentioned first are ok. iWeb tends to make incredibly large, slow pages IME. Sandvox or Rapidweaver produce leaner sites.
