I have an European version of the iPod Touch and I find the volume too low when playing music. Is there any way to hack it and remove the limit on the European version?
Unfortunately the European Ipod has to conform to European Legislation brought in as a result of French National Law which limits the volume on personal audio devices to prevent aural damage!!!!!
I understand that there is a fix, but this will invalidate your warranty so beware!
Alternatively get a decen set of earphones - I use a set of Bang and Olufsen earpho9nes which give excellent sound reproduction - these are around £80 - I would also suggest considering the Bose in ear phones as they have excellent quality as well.
Thanks for all your replies... so, there is a fix?
I don't care about warranty anyway... if it break, I will get another one... I am almost getting another one from the US anyway, if I cannot fix the volume on this one.
Another thing is, what does France have to do with the UK...
Please, if there is a fix, could anyone point me to the right directions?
I have been googling for answers for over three weeks now...
Under the Treaty of Rome there is free - unrestricted movement of goods, services and people within the European Union. As a result all must conform to the same safety standards etc - and that means often meeting the strictest national regulatrions - in the case of portable audio devices the garlic eaters have a regulation setting the decibel levels to prevent injury! As a result - we in the UK are stuffed with quiet Ipods - best solution is to get some really good phones!
I tried to use the application you mentioned, but because the iPod Touch doesn't mount on the desktop, the application cannot see it and therefore, it cannot modify it...
Well, the quest to find the right application is still on... \

Well, leaving the French and the whole EU aside, is there or isn't there a way to remove this limitation?
I used this http://volumebooster.tangerine-soft.de/ on my old 3G, but have no idea whether it'll work with the Touch.
If you try it, please let me know how it goes!!
