Flash Drives + Mac OS = Sucks

I was hoping OS X 10.5 would fix the chronic problem with flash drives and sleep but it hasn't. When my fat32 formatted flash drive is in and I close my notebook the drive mount get fscked up every time. After waking it's useless and cannot be unmounted. Then when I yank it out it warns me of device removal.

Anyone else?

You can try force unmounting if you go into the terminal and type:

hdiutil eject -force <drag device here>

don't drag from the sidebar. You can make a shell script to do that and just drag it onto the script.

Disk Utility might let you unmount/eject the device, you can try that too.

Better than that how about it just works? I don't have this problem with with my HFS+ firewire harddrive.
