Does anyone know if it is possible to install Starcraft without having to do it from OS 9. I am an X junkie and really don't feel like having 2 OS's.

I got the carbon updates but there is no carbon install.... any ideas?

If you read the ReadMe with the X update, at the bottom it outlines how to install in X.

    "How to Install:

    1) Find the Starcraft folder on your hard drive, and open it.

    2) Open the Starcraft Files folder.

    3) Drag all the files from the ?Starcraft for Mac OS X? folder into the ?Starcraft Files? folder.

    4) Close the Starcraft Files folder.

    5) Select the Starcraft (Carbon) file in your Starcraft Files folder.

    6) Choose Make Alias from the File Menu.

    7) Move the new alias file to the Starcraft Folder

    8) Double click the Starcraft (Carbon) alias to play."

Do they not mean you have to already have it installed?

I believe you do have to have it installed under OS 9 before you can upgrade to the OS X version. What I did was to install it in OS 9 before I updated to X and backed up that copy so that if I need to do a reinstall of the system I dont have to us 9. The best way to do it, if you dont have OS 9 installed at all would be to install it on a friends computer (if they have OS 9 or 8) and then burn that on to a CD and then just drop it over to your system. But remember that the install is for that serial number only, so if you want to install it on multiple computers it will not work(legally or on BNet)

no no, if you look in the ReadMe for the Brood War (or perhaps just vanilla starcraft) OS X patch... at the *very* bottom of the document it mentioned what to do if you don't have OS 9 installed anymore and need to install Starcraft. I don't have these docs anymore, so I can't tell you specifically, but it's there....

    Ok,

I have downloaded every concievable patch for Starcraft OSX normal and Brood War. They all say the same thing.

I think what you are thinking about is:

"If you have any problems installing Starcraft in Mac OS X's Classic environment, download StarCraft_Installer_1.05-b.sit from <a href="ftp://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/StarCraft/patches/StarCraft_Installer_1.05-B.sit."; target="_blank">ftp://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/StarCraft/patches/StarCraft_Installer_1.05-B.sit.</a>; Run this program with the StarCraft CD in your CD-ROM drive. Should that fail, restart into Mac OS 9 and install from there."

I downloaded that one too... it is a classic application.

I think all hope is lost.
