    I don't really like Brad Bird's films.

But Andrew Stanton rules. I can't wait for this to come out.

Say what? Everyone's entitled to their own opinions of course, but I think you're the first person I've come across who doesn't like his work.

    IRT Wall-E, looks kinda interesting.

His films are very well made.

But they rub me the wrong way. You can appreciate a movie without "liking" it. I'm sure you've seen films where you thought "okay, this is a good film, but it's not really to my liking." And if you haven't, it's not an uncommon reaction to a film. Personally, I just find films from Stanton, Lasseter, and the Monsters Inc guys more enjoyable.

Shawn doesn't like movies that have objectivist overtones.

    Nick doesn't like Shawn.

And thus the world yin and yang of dislike is balanced once more.

At the very least Wall-E is visually inspired by Short Circuit 1 and 2 (the best sequel ever made ever, ever).

You decide what people should like?

I didn't say he doesn't make good films. And there are parts of his films I do enjoy. On the whole though, they are just not to my liking as much as other Pixar films from other directors.

You do know how anyone could not like The Incredibles and Ratatouille. Brad Bird films hint slightly at objectivism.

You were the one that shared, and we aren't just talking about moms. Tell them why you don't like his work.

So.... The Incredibles and Ratatouille indicate that we should have unabased laisez faire capitalism?

Nah, Nick, you are stretching it a bit too far.

Self-determination isn't solely in the purview of Objectivism.

Laisse-Fair capitalism is only a part of objectivism.

Let Shawn state why he doesn't like the work. I've ventured my guess. You've tossed insults. He volunteered it but only notes they rub him the wrong way. Why should very talented individuals pursuing the outcome of their gifts, even against the wishes and conceptions of society, to achieve their own happiness rub him wrong way?

I'd also like to hear how Ratatouille and The Incredibles hint at Objectivism. Maybe the problem is that I don't know what Objectivism is.

Well I guess you don't understand my mindset. To say I hate Shawn is an insult to me. However my default state isn't the sort of anger you toss around here.

    So do a search.

    See, Nick....

You do actually hate Shawn; otherwise you wouldn't be playing this game with all of us. If it is insulting to you that I point out the patently obvious, then by all means continue to exist in your zen-like twelve year old mindset.

Second point: You have done nothing to PROVE that either of the movies mentioned have anything at all to do with objectivism. You have a thesis. Prove it. Posting a link to a google search of objectivism is.... exactly what a twelve year old would do...

By golly, your boys are rubbing off on you, but at least you aren't rubbing off your boys...

If you can't get the statement to insult ratio down to say, 3:1 then you'll have to be ignored. I simply stated that Shawn had movies rub him a certain way that hint at certain belief systems. That in no fashion is a personal attack. I don't hate anyone on this board. If someone becomes too annoying for a while, I simply ignore them for a week or so and resume conversation with them when their blood pressure has gotten a bit lower.

There has to be a basic level of comprehension for discussion to occur. BRussell stated that he didn't believe he knew what objectivism is understood to be.

I merely ventured a guess that this is why Shawn didn't like the movies. I haven't meant at all for this to become about him or me. It was kept a bit light-hearted with some jokes but iPoster and Tonton expressed sincere astonishment at the films rubbing him the wrong way. If my guess is wrong then the point is mute. It isn't an argument for the sake of argument.
