    Take a look at <a href="http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/utilities/snapzprox/"; target="_blank">SnapzProX</a>.

Yes, <a href="http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/utilities/snapzprox/"; target="_blank">Snapz Pro X</a> capture movies of the screen. That's what you want. Apple actually uses it now in its Mac OS X online videos. It's also bundled with all new Macs, if I recall correctly.

You can do all sorts of things with Snapz like capturing <a href="http://homepage.mac.com/bradster/.Movies/sliding-window.mov"; target="_blank">features of the actual OS</a>, <a href="http://homepage.mac.com/bradster/.Movies/racer-05.mov"; target="_blank">some cool stunts in your favorite game</a>, or <a href="http://brad.project-think.com/movies/DVD-minimizing.mov"; target="_blank">screenshots from a DVD</a> (because Apple's default capture won't work when playing DVDs).

Am I beginning to sound like an advertisement?

I bought (and use!) Snapz Pro X for all my screen-picture-taking needs. And I HIGHLY recommend it. Writing tutorials and my own "Illustrator how-to" things, it's an awesome tool.

Gives you so much control over every aspect of taking good, informative and useful pics of your Mac's screen (windows only, menus only, entire screen, records motion, etc.).

Snapz Pro X has a fifteen day, unrestricted trial period. If you only need to use Snapz a few times, you should use it within this period.

Past that, you can continue to use the app for another fifteen days, but images and movies will have a watermark on them reading "Unregistered version of Snapz Pro X".

After all thirty days have elapsed, you must purchase the app to continue use.

    2 off topic questions...

how come the DVD wont play minimized in the dock?

and what is that icon in your dock to the right of the G-clef?

I don't know why DVD Player blacks out in the Dock. Ask Apple. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

I made all four of the icons on the right side of the Dock there. To the right of the treble cleff are folders for my "Internet Apps", "Multimedia", and "Games". The first icon is a composite of the old Acquisition icon, Chimera, and OmniWeb. The second is Illustrator, Photoshop, and Final Cut Pro. The third is Starcraft, Wolfenstein, and SNES9X. I prefer organizing aliases of my apps into separate folders like this rather than fill the Dock itself with twenty or thirty different icons.
