Hello,

I was wondering how you all would suggest securing my macbook pro at school, because i am buying one to use in school and i was planning on keeping it in my backpack (its a laptop backpack). knowing human nature i thought i would take steps to keep it from being stolen

also what would you guys suggest to prevent it from braking due to physical wear and tear.

thanks

    Is this high-school or college?

Either way, the backpack could have a lock on it. My cousin has one with a built in lock on the zipper.

Is your backpack obvious? What I mean is, does it look like you're going to be carrying around a MBP? If so, that increases your chances of people wanting to steal from you.

You could also use common sense and never leave it anywhere no matter what. Always keep it by your side.

There are also cable locks for the MBP.

For the Macbook Pro itself, you could use a case. http://apple.com/store The Apple store offers plenty of choices.

If you don't want a case, then you could keep it in a sleeve.

    Hope that helps.

it would be for high school as well as sound work, stage lighting and work (which consists of sound and light work).

It isn't obvious that i am carrying a MBP ,but it is a small school and people will know i have a laptop. A lock on the backpack wasn't something i had thought of thanks for the tip.

also i was reading and someone wrote that there were programs that would send you the IP and account that someone was using when they connected to the internet. could i get a name for some of these programs.

and thanks for the help sansa11'
