If you look closely at the display, you'll be able to see that the computer is running OSX 10.4, look at the Dock it's the old version (black arrows below running apps).

I doubt it would be that thin. But the problem of the compressed keys might not be a difficulty if they can avoid a screen damage, or marking problem. With the case closed, and the keys compressed, the keyboard input could be turned off, only awaking when the screen opened a certain amount.

Yes...it IS a fake...because it is a MOCK UP! It ISN'T A PHOTO OF THE ACTUAL DEVICE! It is PHOTOSHOPPED! They say it in the article...

    Why...don't...people...read?

You know, I was just looking at it and if you zoom in on the image, there seems to be one. It could just be a weird reflection though.

All I know, is that all the so-called 'mock-ups' of the iPhone completely paled in comparison to the real thing. Hopefully we'll see this ring true with whatever Apple is coming out with tomorrow.

Yes, but the iPhone mockups were speculative at best. This one claims to have been the result of a leak. Given that any product is no-doubt in transit at this point, I find it believable that someone without much to lose by leaking would be able to get a hold of one of the units.

Of course, it could also be deliberate misinformation, right from the source. If Apple has started doing that kind of stuff, I totally salute them. That's skunk-works cool.

If the thickness of the screen side of the notebook is reversed so that it is thin on the bottom and fatter on top it would close into a very thin rectangle (not a teardrop) shaped device. There would also be space for the camera.

I am curious why it runs Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger instead of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard?

Anyway the camera is very good visible in the black border above the screen.

Just like it is with the iMac.

Personally I think it's bogus. And yes, I know the image is an intentional, admitted 'shop, but still, I think that even that design type is bogus. At least, I hope so, it's kinda hideous if you ask me. I'd take a regular MacBook any day.

I think it could be a multi port break out slot.

I was thinking about that. Of course, I was trying to figure out that damn "flip it 360 degrees to get a tablet" thing from 9to5Mac. If it the reverse on the screen that it is on the keyboard, then yes, there is room for a camera and it would work better for keep this tablet square...but 1-I can't figure out where the pivot point needs to be and 2-the keyboard is still fricking exposed!

Notice that the rumour itself doesn't specify screen size in any way? The picture/mockup makes it big, but it may be much smaller.

I am REALLY thinking about getting this...but I want it to be less than $1000.

Unfortunately, I see no way this could cost less than today's 13" MacBooks!

UNLESS... it's a 9-inch screen on a "laptop" that combines a 16GB iPod-Touch with an ultra thin keyboard. Then perhaps $650? But that's a rather simplified computer... perhaps the only apps would be iWork & any new up-and-coming iPhone apps.

Perhaps Apple will have a locking mechanism that locks the keyboard keys once the screen is swivelled to a certain degree? Apple will find a way...

Nicely made, but i don't like it.

It just doesn't look as sleek as things designed by Apple.

    Meh.

    Also:

If this really was the real thing, Apple should have improved their USB 2.0 performance dramatically, because on it's other notebooks it is damn slow.

My gosh. I hated Apple for making the iPod USB-only. My music was crawling onto my iPod 4G since the firmware changed it.

    Want FW800!

To me this looks more like an old Sony Vaio a friend of mine had some years ago.

It had similar looks, was shaped like a wedge when closed and had this round bezel.

    Do not want.

    First thing I noticed too.

Second, how can a 13" piece carry the name "sub" in it? Seriously.

If at all Apple has to go 10". 12" at least. IMHO.

    1. Fake

    2. We have reached the moment before an important event or announcement, so it won't be long until people start speculating, that this very laptop might have a Blue Ray drive integrated, super-modern "no cables" technology, and a mystical yet confirmed (by well informed sources working actually inside Steve Job's office) food beamer that can create Hamburgers, milkshakes and even Coca-Cola with the original recipe, for the stressed "I'm on the fly" - graphic designer.

yesssss, and it all comes for a unbelievably $799 price tag.

    ...and this is all true!!

whats the point of having a usb to ethernet converter, the main advantage of ethernet over wireless is its speed, that is lost if you go through a usb converter, so you may as well use wireless.

Given Apple's heavy-handed throttling of ThinkSecret, it would be amusing if this leak, or some of the other rumors, were even partially true.

Sorry Steve-o, but there'll always be some info getting out... even your army of rabid cyborg lawyers can't stop it all.
