802.11/n upgrade for iMac 17" 2.0 GHz ?

I have the iMac 17" 2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo.

I am wondering if the 802.11/g WiFi built-in can be updated to 802.11/n either through a software flash or other method.

The reason I wonder is that Apple has come out with the 'Time Capsule' which uses 802.11n Wireless. I'd love to have a 1.0 TB external hard drive that I can access from all my PCs and my iMac to centrally store my data.

I would plug my PC's Gigabit Ethernet into it and use the iMac wireless with 802.11n if I could update it to that and run my PC Laptop with 802.11g until I buy an 'n' adapter for it. This way can store all my media files on that hard drive and not clutter up the PC's and iMac's internal drives.

Cheers.

Okay. I searched the Apple Store and at this URL:

It tells you how to check if you have Wireless 'n' already installed and if your Mac qualifies to have 802.11n 'enabled'. If it qualifies, you can download the 'enabler' software for $2.49.

    Here's where to check:

    Finder > Applications > Utilities > Network Utility >> Info >> Network Interface (en1)

Model: Wireless Network Adapter (802.11 a/b/g/n)

Mine already has 'n' enabled, so I don't have to pay the $2.49.

Another note is that if you purchase an Airport Extreme Base Station or the new Time Capsule, you get the enabler software for free with the product. I think that's a pretty sweat deal, esp. since mine's already updated!

Now I just need to get a Time Capsule or a router with 802.11/n and Gigabit Ethernet to make use of all these extra fast protocols!

    Cheers.
