The Netscape 7.0.1 thread

Anybody else using it?

I noticed the "hard crash while using the mousewheel to scroll a webpage while not fully loaded" problem has been addressed. What did they do? They disabled mousewheel functionality. Er, I guess that does take care of things, but I was hoping for a better fix. Maybe this indicates that it's a serious problem that cannot be fixed easily?

Ah well, there's a half-dozen other things I've found that will hard crash 7.0 (all of them having to do with scrolling stuff, oddly), so we'll see how those things pan out in 7.0.1.

Anybody have experiences to add?

Who cares now we have Safari? I know, I know, it has tabbed browsing but no way I'm going back to the other browsers now. I just love Safari to bitz

Tabbed browsing makes it all worth it for me. That and the pervasive auto-field filling of IE, and I am a happy clam. If only they could come up with my 2 favorites there, make it stable as a rock and unflappable, and still runs nice in Classic Mac OS, and I'm sold.

I haven't tried it out, yet, but I read a new feature of 7.0.1 is you can get it to open not only a homepage upon startup, but open a tabbed group of your favorite "home pages" upon startup. That's phenomenal! Very rarely does a feature come along that utterly answers a need that I had in the first place.

I use Mozilla which is the same and I enjoy it much more than Safari.

I could understand liking Chimera more than Safari, but Mozilla? Yuck!

OK, I need to take that back. The mousewheel seems to work on some pages, but not on others, some days, but not on others... Who knows what that is all about? (rhetorical)

Well it hasn't hardcrashed the entire system during various browser page scrolling antics, so that is a BIG plus! This thing seems to happen in spells, so it could just be nothing this week and all hell breaks loose next week. Who knows? So far it looks good though!
