upgrading ipod

do you guys know if it is possible to upgrade a 30gb 5th gen ipod to the 80gb ipod classic without buying a whole new one paying $250?

    No. And if you're thinking of "accidentally" damaging your iPod in the hope Apple will give you a new model, that won't work either; Apple will just give you a new/refurbished 30GB 5th gen.
