Makes sense. That way US East Coast people who only download updates through their (high-speed) work connections are already off for the weekend, and Europeans are already in bed (or out partying). This reduces the initial load spikes on the servers.
I wonder whether we'll get 10.2.4 at the same time.

Oh, that's just great. What about the majority of the web surfers out there with dial-up at home?
Wish these tech companies get their head out of their a$$ and realize that most people don't have high speed connections.
Whatever. I'll wait 'til next week and download them at work...
ummmm, it's called iLife. It comes in a spiffy box at your local apple reseller. It's 49.95 What more do you want?

Look, all I'm saying is that the shift towards high speed access to the masses is taking a lot longer than these companies thought it would. AOL/Time/Warner's 99 billion loss anyone?
As far as iLife...I don't need iDVD since my iMac has a CD RW drive. I will probably only download iMovie and iPhoto. I really won't use iPhoto that much but I may have use of iMovie with a friend of mine who wants some quick and dirty video editing.
iTunes I think isn't a new upgrade is it? I love iTunes out of all of them.
My .Mac homepage is not functioning properly. jpegs not coming in and very slow. Could this have to do with Apple readying the website for iLife downloads?
i bet it is late today so people aren't downloading at work today...it means less people downloading all at once since many are away from computers over the weekend...so cable and dsl at home people with nothing to do on the weekends will download (about half the mac users fit this group )....so they get downloads spread out more slowly over friday night and the weekend, with a bunch downloading again on monday when people are at work or school and have high speed access.....g
remember safari had lots of downloads, but safari is tiny compared to iPhoto2 and iMovie3....g
iPhoto 2 just came up in my software update... no iMovie 3 however

Download and update to iPhoto 2 here. Or get all the iLife applications for $49 U.S. at www.apple.com/ilife or your local Apple dealer. iLife includes the latest, integrated versions of iTunes 3, iPhoto 2, iMovie 3 and iDVD 3, on CD and DVD.
iPhoto, the breakthrough application that makes it easy for you to import, organize and share your digital photos, just got better. Now, with Version 2, iPhoto lets you burn your photos directly onto a CD or DVD for archiving. It makes it easy for you to fix those "not-so-perfect" photos with just a click of the new one-button Enhance. And you can send pictures from iPhoto with your favorite e-mail application. iPhoto 2 even lets you select music directly from iTunes 3 or send a slideshow directly to iDVD 3. For a complete list of new features, or to simply learn more about iPhoto 2, visit www.apple.com/iphoto.
