Flashplayer and Safari (and Firefox)

Went to CNN's site and wanted to check out the videos. In Safari it said "...This CNN.com feature is optimized for Adobe Flash Player version 9 or higher. You are currently using Flash Player 0".

So I clicked and installed as directed. When I get back to the site I get the same message. I have tried this several times. I also ran the official Adobe uninstaller and tried again.

Firefox related: after I uninstalled I got the same message as above. So I installed. When I now go to CNN I get sound but only a black screen.

Can someone help me out with these problems?

Have you closed Firefox down before trying again? Another basic one, reboot maybe?

I've closed down both and retried. I also have rebooted. Same results: In Safari: Install Flash Player. In Firefox: Sound but black screen.

One problem solved! In Safari I went to Preferences and enabled plug-ins. All is well for Safari.
