Davis is a genius. I still remember -- I was 10 -- going nearly apoplectic over "bun warmer" gag.

Holy crap that is funny.
It's funny thinking about Jon talking to himself
It's funny imagining what Garfield is actually doing if he wasn't erased out.
It's just funny on a whole lot of levels.
I was a huge Garfield fan as a kid. Sometimes when I visit my mom I'll pull an old Garfield book out and still laugh my ass off.

Heh. My favorite strips are still the very first years of Peanuts. Schultz's illustration style was still evolving, and the early Charlie Brown look was directly stolen by Bill Watterson for Calvin & Hobbes.
