New MBP Painstakingly Slow Safari

When i bring my new penryn based 17 MBP, 2.5 GHz, high-res screen, 2GB Ram, when i bring it out of sleep mode and then open Safari, i get a window that says you are not connected to the internet, if i wait about 10-15 seconds my homepage may then load, or i refresh the page and my homepage opens (NYTimes.com). Then once I am connected, some webpages open up lightening fast, and others take forever to load, like 30 seconds to simply open my Gmail sign-in page. My wifi network seems to be working fine, with all the bars lit up on the computer... Do i have lemon here? Please help...
