PCI Firewire problem - driver needed?

Hi folks,

Got an urgent question:

I bought a PCI Firewire card for my G4 running OSX 3.9, and I guess I thought it would automatically run on my computer.

It is not recognizing my FW HDs . . . do I need to get a driver for this card?

are there universal PCI drivers?

. . . this is some no name brand FW400 card

Hey unfortunately I do not think there are drivers for what you have and you really can not just buy a PCI anything for a Mac unless it specifically says it is compatabile with it. I would recommend going to like www.macsales.com and looking there. They have great customer service and they really know what they are talking about. Brand wise, I would recommend Sonnet, I have used them for SATA PCI cards, USB 2.0 Cards and they were plug and play, I did not have to add any drivers, they just work.

    Hope this helps!
