Apple Mail Signatures

I have been trying to set up my Apple Mail after using Entourage for about a year. When I try to copy my signatures for Entourage to Mail, the picture doesn't copy over. Any ideas?

I don't think mail allows for images in the signature. I have tried several times and still haven't found out how to if even possible.

Mail allows them, you just drag an image onto the page. It will send through as an attachment but show inline. Or you could just put a link to an online image in HTML.

Do you know how to put a link to an online image in HTML? What are the steps to do this. Sorry, I'm rather new at all this.

When I drag and drop the image into the signature it looks awesome, until I save it. Then it's a tiny image again! Why is this so hard?

You could upload an image to imageshack.us or some personal web host (sometimes you get some with your ISP). Using your own domain is useful because if something happens to the link, you can still setup the same URL so people with old messages will still see your image.

Then copy the full link to the image - in imageshack, there's a list of links but you want the one that starts http://

    In your sig, add <img src="http://imageshack...."; width ="100px" height="100px" />

Don't add width or height at all if you want it full size and if you need it adjusted, you only need either width or height and it will keep the proportion. Using both lets you squash the image but you rarely do that.

The dragging method does show a smaller preview once it's saved but it loads into a message full size.

Funny enough, when I drag the image into the sig and I compose an e mail the images are small, but when I click on them, they become full size. Strange. Still working on the html solution.

Yeah the signature edit box seems to be like the .rtf editor in Textedit so it doesn't support plain text links. Signatures are actually just webarchives so what you can do is make some random signature. Then in an HTML program or Textedit in plain text mode, save an HTML file. Open that in Safari and save as webarchive. Then replace one of the sigs in /Users/<name>/Library/Mail/Signatures by naming your webarchive the same.

The weird thing is that remote image still don't show up though even though I have the preference selected to show them in Mail - they show as broken links. Yet if you copy and paste it into an rtf file, it shows up fine.

It is possible to encode the image as base-64 and embed it into the actual sig as data but this may mark your email as spam in some clients.

What resolution is the image btw and what format is it in?

I wish I understood half of what you said there. I'm not very technical as you can probably tell. The text files are working better, but it's funny, sometimes they show small and then magically become full size. Very strange.

I assume you are using Leopard. Here is how to setup your custom stationary / signature.
