Just saw this ExpressCard to USB2 Adapter has been announced. Shouldn't be hard to introduce a 'slice' that sits under the Mac Mini that provides similar functionality.
Are there any really cool applications that anyone can think of for using ExpressCard in a Mac Desktop?

some thing like that will put a lot of cpu load on the system and the usb bus will slow things down as well.

From the article...
"The adapter is geared toward ExpressCards that add wireless functions, like WLAN or cellular broadband (3G for example) and Memory Card adapters. It will not work with cards that add SATA, FireWire, Gigabit Ethernet or USB 2.0 throughput, which depend on PCIe architecture. "
So, next to useless really unless you already have a 3G broadband expresscard you want to use with a desktop or your non-gigabit ethernet port or airport card is fried.

I agree. The only use I can think of for this very odd piece of equipment is when you have a mobile broadband ExpressCard for another computer that you may want to interchange with a second computer that doesn't have an ExpressCard slot. Normally you'd just go out and get a USB dongle with the same functionality but you can't easily do that in this case as a wireless provider would insist on you having two accounts. AFAIK, each "device" has to have it's own 10 digit wireless number and account.
