I am just wondering what are the pro's of getting a mac instead of another computer that runs vista for example, I dont know a ton about apple computers
Don't think anyone's going to spend too much time on trying to convince you - hell, it's far easier to just rag on Windows and M$ ...
It's not so much about the hardware any more since intel - it's the OS that's the difference and the fact that you can run Windows as well, if you must.

I'd like to commend everyone for not falling for the "convince me" routine. This is #16 in the list of "top 50 anti-Mac troll techniques."
Whether it is, or not, it was a "knock this chip off of my shoulder" type of thread from the beginning. After listing his needs, simple "What are the reasons to switch to Mac", or "Why should I switch", would have gotten a lot more mileage for the OP. The "double dare ya" attitude is usually the least productive.
