Any help would be greatly appreciated. Apple replaced the ram (2 gig) in my Macbook but random crashed occur throughout the day, in almost every application (Mail, Safari, Firefox, MS Office, CS3)

The machine is a 2 ghz Intel running 10.5.4.

I did an archive and install yesterday but that did not fix it. Here is a most recent crash log and Thread 0:

Sending this machine off to Apple would be a last ditch effort, so any guidance would be a huge help. Also, the Macbook has run beautifully for about a year without any problems at all.

Obviously no one else had any insight so Google to the rescue. A quick summary of how I seem to have solved the mystery.

Ran Disk Utility off of the Leopard DVD. No problems found

Ran Hardware Test off of the restore DVD that came with the Macbook, no hardware problems found.

Uninstalled Growl, MS Office, and Quicksilver. Still having random crashes...

    Uninstalled Logitech Mouse utility

    Still crashing...

Opened up the Frameworks folder at HD/Library/Frameworks and found 4 folders with HP in the name. Given I don't have any HP products, I have no clue how they got there. Moved them to the desktop, restarted....problem solved. At least for the last 4-5 hours, which is a record for the last three months.

So, check that Framework folder and make sure you don't have any HP____ folders in there. If so, delete move them to the desktop (you can always move them back if that doesn't solve it), and restart.

    Good luck.

Hello, I'm having a similar type issue like you had. It's that I have an Apogee Ensemble (Firewire interface), and anytime it's turned on my Quicktime, Finder, and Logic Pro would quit. I looked at the crash report, and it looked similar to yours. I wonder if you had any other advice for me, cause I can't seem to solve it.

    Thx....

    Isaac.

Assuming you've ruled out actual other issues (disk utility, permissions repair, hardware test), have you confirmed with the manufacturer that it works with your OS version? Has it ever worked properly? If so, what changed before it started going wonky (added new software, utilities, etc.)?

Yeah, I tried all the above, and I actually solved the problem, it was a audio playback device that's called "Hear", it has a serious conflict with any other audio playback device. Once I trashed it, it's like nothing ever happened...
